sort of THINKIN' THURSDAY

I have been trying to think.

But I've been a little...

green,

shall we say.

Feeling green.

EC and me.
Not feeling quite ourselves.
Head sort of

in the clouds.

Have you been there?
Of course you have.
Achy.
Leaky.
Raspy.
Quite a sight.
But we're still feeling happy.
(notice how our lips are NOT touching....NO, NO, NO, not today.)

I wish I was dancing,
or walking on the beach,

or strolling with these folks in France,

or at the very least rejoicing in a home project here that finally got done,

or perhaps, just laughing myself silly,

maybe even looking like myself.

Nope.

Today.

Everything is a little sketchy.

I don't even recognize myself.

Hope you are all feeling well!!!

Learning to be a photographer (someday)

*with a little help from my friends*

YOU.

Not only do I follow, read, learn, get inspired & laugh
but
I study.

I'm in awe of how talented so many of you wonderful friends are.

Let's start with the pictures.

Donna at FUNKY JUNK INTERIORS

was showing us how to use our cameras the other day.  I really would like to be a good, accomplished photographer at some point.  I realize that may take some time.

I have to begin.

Why not today?

Here are a few photos without touch ups.

I wanted to use what Donna showed us about the close up settings on our cameras.  I have a point and shoot camera as well as a swanky camera with a lens.

I used the swanky one for the pictures below.

EC bought it for me for my birthday last year.
He's my techno-giver-lover guy!

He's so funny.  I've been asking for a new house for years.  And he buys me things like pots and pans for the kitchen, a double oven, a laptop and a camera.  He thinks I would love these things.

I DO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*you must scream as you read that, ok?*
(to get the full effect)

Guess all those goodies will be put to good use in the new house, too.

I'll leave you with these photos.

I would really love your input here on my blog photos.  These and the others.
Any and all suggestions, tips, etc. would be helpful.

I'm the student.

Thanks!

Feeling TWIGGY?

Here I come!

TWIGS.

TWIGS are my thang!

I use twigs...well...just about everywhere.

They're cheap

and plentiful in our forest-like backyard.

Now, I really dig the window boxes this year.

EC?

Well, he loves them, too.

But he can't let a moment go by without a tease making fun of my decorating choices!

He's had fun at my expense.

So he calls these:

Morticia Addams Window Boxes!
He says, cracking himself up, that it really pokes a nice jab into those serious decorator types who may drive by our house!
Just for the record:
NO ONE drives by our house.
We live at the end of a dead end street.
OK?
I think it's funny, tho, that he thinks it's funny!
All fall we've been rattling off sayings about the window boxes.
Morticia won!

a little torn burlap, a million or so TWIGS
and
some gourds.

Then to keep with the burlap theme, what?, we have the ever popular TWIG wreath hanging right out front on the new fence.

It's starting to look like someone real lives in this house.
(remember post-partum for 8 years?)

Our front stoop.
TWIGS in a bucket.

TWIGS in the living room.

TWIGS here and TWIGS...

...there.

Why, when my 10yo was 5, he painted this: a Sharp Shinned Hawk eating a dove in our backyard.
We hot glued the TWIGS and whatnots to cardboard for a home school art fair.
TWIGS.

TWIGS in a little tin bucket with a faux votive light for a petite table decoration for Thanksgiving this year,

along with a TWIG place setting. (real leaf)

This one is for Marianne at Songbird.
I REALLY & TRULY never took one of our Christmas trees down from last year!
(sits in our dining room)
TWIGS.

TWIGS.

DISCLAIMER:
NO TWIGS WERE HARMED IN THE MAKING OF THIS POST.

So go out on a limb and see what everyone else is doing for SNS!
Have a bough-UTIFUL evening!

Gitter Done - Closet ReVamp

Donna gives us a challenge.  If it weren't for her I seriously doubt this stuff would get done.

My bedroom closet.
BEFORE.
OY.
I NEVER wanted to get dressed.

My closet.
AFTER.
This is my fall/winter ensemble.

All my spring/summer wear is in a huge pile in the basement storage area.
(Yes, I wear my Teva sandals in the winter.  What?)

The rest of it,
is in the back of my car, ready and waiting to be delivered to the good will.

Not a single penny was spent to create my fall/winter closet.
I dug through every drawer/cupboard/closet to find what I needed.
Hooks, curtain rod, hangers, tie-backs, fabric, etc.

Even the little storage bins, baskets

and next-door-curb-find shelf, I had.

Gloves, winter scarves/hats here.

In the spring, I just flip the tag and store hats, sunglasses, etc. up here.

Made the drapes yesterday.

I'm so pleased that I do just go in and stare at the whole place.
Puts a smile on my face.

Even the flowers were free - one of the guys in the band brought them for us to enjoy!
Thank you Donna!  For motivating and creating!  You take a pretty dull, boring and tedious job and make it a true creative happening for us!
I feel so much lighter now!
