Curb Alert! GIANT FONT NEEDED

First you should know.  I don't do curbs.  I don't stop and pick things up. It's yucky.  And dirty.  There may be mice.  Roaches, even.  Bleck!

But.
I do look out my window.

Which is what I did on Saturday.
I saw this pile.  Right next door.  At the curb.
I rang my neighbors to ask if it was OK.  I don't think I stopped long enough to think rationally about all of this.  They said, "Take whatever you want and when we have more we'll let you know."

I was jubilant.

I carried everything home.  One piece at a time.
Brought it all up to the front patio doors.  Then carried it inside my house.

My husband did a double take.  ("Who's this woman bringing this dirty junk stuff into our house?  Oh, Kolein, is that you?  What are you going to do with this?  What are you doing with that ladder?")

I smiled sheepishly and said, "Something.  I don't know."

Here's the list:
  • An 8 ft wooden ladder
  • Four shelves, like new with brackets, screws and mounting things
  • Wooden shelf/book case
  • Sturdy wooden chair(thought I'd make a guitar pickin' seat for EC out of it)
  • Handmade wooden shelf thing

I may have left the planet that I used to live on.  I'm taking residence some where else right now.  Excuse me while I figure out who I am and what I'm doing with my life!

  7. A girl after my own heart! You'll find that curb shopping can turn addictive really fast. Best time to 'shop' is the night before trash pickup......in the dark....while the neighbors are sleeping. lol

I once picked a small desk off a trash pile that I thought I could sneak easy enough, but when I grabbed it, there was metal at the other end of the pile. Let's just say the neighbors all knew who it was since they could see me running back to my house when they all turned on the porch lights. My husband was laughing so hard when I got back in the house. He said the next time I should leave notes on people's doors letting them know if they hear noises outside in the middle of the night, don't worry, it's just me riffling through their trash!

  8. LOL I wish I would have curb finds like that. Looks like some really good stuff full of potential.
Gonna be fun to see what you end up doing with it.

  9. Girl!
    You have some finds!
I ALWAYS stop by piles of stuff, and if it looks interesting, I drag it home!
After 20 years of this "odd" behavior of mine, my hubby is used to it. Yours will get used to it too :)
He also loves that I saved him some $ on something and got to use my creativity in the process!
I see lots of neat storage possibilities with that ladder. It wold look awesome turned sideways and put under a window for toy/book storage/seating on top (if it's sturdy) also in the office for books, files...in a bathroom vertically for towels and bath kinda stuff!
I would have grabbed all those finds, too!
    Way to Go!
Blessings from my curb to yours!
